In this latest Thursday moto vlog installment I talk about how the new 2013 600cc Supersport Motorcycles have gotten slower compared to my wonderful 2008 Honda CBR600rr and some older 600cc bikes.

I read somewhere in one of the cruiser sites that the government is going to lobby to reduce displacement for the street in all types of bikes. I think there is no issue as the aftermarket is well and alive a simple 2BR filter controller and exhaust and the power is there plus. , And you don’t pay Litre bike insurance.
I purchased a used 09 CBR600RR and also tested a few used 08 and 07 I could not tell any difference. So I ended getting the 09 with the green I wanted.
One other thing it did have a fender eliminator kit with integrated tail light and failed inspection. The turn signals have to be at least 4″ apart, I guess it depends on the state and the shop how much they can tolerate.
But I do think the integrated tail light is not clear enough for most drivers behind you as I had so many drivers on my tail as I was making turns. I went to the stock tail section and no problem since. I thought you may want to discuss this as looks does not mean functional since you are a strong safety advocate and want to be seen on the road. I have the front flush mounts and I don’t think they are clear enough for traffic to see, so I am adding the same turn signal mirrors you have to help with this.
Great stuff the pearl white is growing on me, be safe.
That would suck, the Gov’t needs to leave our bikes alone. lol We need them as fast as possible so we can outrun the cops sometimes. lol Just kidding!
cool to hear you have a cbr600rr, welcome to the club! There is a difference between the 07/07 and the 09+, but you have to be in the top rpm’s to feel the difference, which
you really shouldn’t be doing on the streets. lol You can always correct that hp issues with a change to the ECU.
That sucks you can’t put on a integrated tail light. I don’t rely on a my tail light anyways when comes to visibility, I always use arm signals
before making turns, much better than even stock turn signals.
Ride safe!
I am getting used to my CBR its fun plenty of power, I don’t revv it to red line so to me it doesn’t matter. Its not that I cant have the integrated tail light its that more shops are becoming stickers about it some will pass you some wont. I purchased the bike used in excellent condition even came with Akrapovic slip on muffler sliders front and rear and fender eliminator and front flush mount lights. I since went back to the OE fender with side covers but kept the Akrapovic .
Since going to the OE fender and turn signals no issues with cars, They can see me more clearly and my intent when I turn, I also use signals when I can see they are not paying attention. Sade riding.
