So I just figured I’d ask here, but what bike do you think would be a good idea for a new rider (myself) to start on? I’ve got just a tad bit of riding experience (I’ve hopped on a dirt bike two or 3 times), but nothing substantial. I’m an average size male, so I should be able to hold up a bike no problems. I’ve been looking around and I was thinking, would it be a bad idea for me to start on a Honda CBR600RR? I’ve got a job that I’m working at after school, so its gonna be me paying for it, so basically I can’t go crazy wild when it comes to the cost portion. What would y’all say, both regarding the size of the bike (250cc, 600cc, etc.) and then also an affordable bike.

You can do whatever you want to do. I got back into riding again after not riding for over 15 years. Last year I bought a 1979 Honda Cx500c. It had plenty of power for me. Before taking the MSF course (of which I highly recommend) last summer, I was sure I wanted a Yamaha R6. I’m so glad I bought a smaller vtwin. That R6 would have killed me. Really it’s totally up to you and your ability. Some people have started on 600cc inline 4 bikes and have been just fine. Others not done so well. Taking the MSF riding corse will give you a huge eye opener as it did for me. Good luck. Remember nobody cares what bike you ride if they really care about your comfort and most importantly safty.
