I’ve had a lot of different types of motorcycles over the years, ten totally different bikes to be exact. I enjoyed my experience on all of the different types of bikes over the last ten years. However, there are some motorcycles that I would never get (again). Understand that everybody has their own preferences when it comes to motorcycles, so a bike that I thing is really bad maybe amazing to another rider. I’m not hating on motorcycles I don’t like, just giving my personal opinion for whatever that is worth.

The best and worst dual sport motorcycle for the Trans America Trail.
I want to do an EPIC motorcycle adventure across the country. The most epic motorcycle adventure I can think of is riding the Trans America Trail from coast to coast that covers every type of terrain you can imagine, most notably, Bear Pass in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, which is one of the most dangerous places to ride off-road and the most thrilling. However, because the Trans America Trail covers so much different terrain from street to gnarly mountain single track trails, which is the best dual sport motorcycle to get for the Trans America Trail?

Adventure motorcycles are very popular these days. You often see advertisements showing ADV motorcycles riding on great adventures off-road, across creeks or riding in the outback like they are on a wild adventure with the most capable go anywhere motorcycle on the planet. This is what I call great marketing but far from reality.
If you really think you can take any of these big adventure motorcycles on some wild excursions off-road I have some ocean front property to sell you in Arizona. (Ha! Ha!)

Adventure motorcycles are very popular these days. The idea of being able to hit the road on your motorcycle and go anywhere on any terrain is very appealing. My most fun times on a motorcycle are riding off-road which is much more fun and challenging than mindlessly beating miles on the pavement.
However, most people don’t actually ride their adventure motorcycle off-road nor are ADV bikes very good at it either.
