I did a video a while back titled, “Tips to Avoid Serious Injury Before Motorcycle Accident,” where I explained ways you can possibly help avoid serious injury if you are about to be involved in an accident, one tip I gave was to try and leap from the pegs of your motorcycle before the impact of a vehicle to try and help avoid serious injury when involved in an accident. Although my tip was based on theory, I never personally tested this advice out to see how well it can work (I hope I never have to), however, a subscriber from my youtube channel left a comment yesterday stating that my advice about leaping from your motorcycle pegs just before collision resonated with him and he actually used this advice when he was recently involved in a head-on collision with a truck in the dark on an early morning commute, he leaped from the pegs of his motorcycle just before the truck hit his bike and he ended up clearing the front end of the truck and avoided major injury. He was taken to the hospital and given x-rays but everything was ok besides some bumps and bruises. His bike didn’t fair so well and was totaled and laying under the truck, where he would have been had he not leaped from his motorcycle. Btw, he had full motorcycle gear on that also helped prevent injuries!
Another great point I would also like to mention, is that he did not allow that accident to deter him from riding a motorcycle again and while he was being taken to the hospital he was already thinking about the next motorcycle he was going to get and looking forward to riding again soon. It’s important to note that shit happens to the best of us, you can’t blame a motorcycle for being dangerous but rather life is dangerous and you are not safe just sitting on your couch watching TV as your own body can attack you with a heart attack or stroke and kill you or seriously injure you . My late brother rode a motorcycle from 7 years old to 30 years old and never got hurt on a motorcycle but died one night at 30 years old of a brain aneurysm while laying down in the safety of his bed. People also die in car accidents every day but that doesn’t deter people from driving a car, a motorcycle accident shouldn’t deter people from riding a motorcycle either. Do not live your life in fear! Ride a motorcycle defensively and wear full safety gear, you will be safer riding your motorcycle.
