When you first buy a brand new motorcycle the dealership salesman will tell you that you need to do a first service at the dealership after five hundred miles on your bike. This first service can cost you anywhere from $300 or more. When you get a brand new motorcycle you are often told that you need to so a soft break-in. The bike’s user manual will usually tell you to keep the bike below five thousand RPMs for the first five hundred miles so the engine will break-in properly. However, I have never followed those instructions and have always done a hard break-in, meaning that I wide open throttle the bike to redline starting at zero miles. It has been a long time since I bought a new motorcycle. My local dealer finally has the motorcycle I want in stock at the dealership on the showroom floor! After all of these years I finally get to lay eyes on a brand new KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO in person and the chance to buy it. Before today, I never actually ever saw a KTM 1290 Super Duke R in person or even on the streets through all of the years I have been riding.
